For a snowboard lesson in La Bresse, two schools exist: ESF La Bresse, which announces snowboard from age 8 on its children’s page, and Moonshot. ESF Lac Blanc lists snowboard from age 10, but the joint authority of the Lac Blanc site has announced that its ski lifts will stop: check before booking. To place these lessons within the whole ski area, see the snowboard lessons in La Bresse in our complete guide to skiing in La Bresse Hohneck.
ESF La Bresse: age and formats
ESF La Bresse has one snowboard lesson page per age band: “Dès 8 ans” (from age 8) for children, “À partir de 13 ans” (from age 13) for teens, and an all-levels adult page. All three pages say the lesson brings together all age groups, with groups of the same level, and that the instructors welcome students “débutant ou non” (beginner or not). According to the FAQs of the teen and adult pages, groups are also formed by age and the younger students are sometimes mixed with the older ones.
| Format | Group size | Time slot stated by the page |
|---|---|---|
| Group lesson | 10 students maximum | Afternoon, 15:30 to 17:30, Monday to Friday |
| Shared lesson | 6 students maximum | Morning 11:15 to 12:45 or afternoon 13:45 to 15:15, Sunday to Friday |
The stated location is the Hohneck, in front of the garderie, north car park. The group lesson ends with a medal at the end of the week. The shared lesson is presented as “à mi chemin entre cours privés et cours collectifs” (halfway between private and group lessons).
Private ski or snowboard lessons can also be booked: “selon disponibilité, un moniteur rien que pour vous” (subject to availability, an instructor just for you), morning or afternoon, every day. They can include several students of the same level (4 people maximum on the adult page), and the children’s private lesson page advises booking before your stay. The children’s page also lists a weekend group snowboard lesson, without stating the season. The tourist office site also mentions “cours suivis”, “5 dimanches ou 5 mercredis entre Noël et février” (5 Sundays or 5 Wednesdays between Christmas and February), for alpine skiing, snowboard, Nordic skiing and biathlon.
The ESF pages offer a week selector from 12 December 2026 to 27 March 2027, while Labellemontagne announces La Bresse opening from 19 December 2026 to 21 March 2027, subject to snow conditions. Prices are shown as “à partir de” (from), with no mention of a season: we do not reproduce any.
Moonshot: snowboard and skiing in small groups
The tourist office presents Moonshot as a ski and snowboard school at the foot of the Hohneck slopes, founded in 2017. Its instructors hold diplomas from the École Nationale de Ski et d’Alpinisme in Chamonix and are available in French, German, Dutch and English. The formats are individual lessons, shared lessons of 5 people maximum and group lessons of 8 people maximum.
The Montessori approach is announced “pour adultes et enfants à partir de 4 ans” (for adults and children from age 4). The listings give no minimum age specific to snowboard: the age of ESF La Bresse (8) does not apply to Moonshot, and Moonshot’s age of 4 should be confirmed for snowboard on 03 29 28 64 23. Hours outside school holidays: Monday to Friday 9:00 to 17:00, Saturday and Sunday 8:00 to 19:00; during school holidays, every day from 8:00 to 20:30, with flexible hours depending on the instructors. Lessons can be booked online.

Lac Blanc (Le Bonhomme): lessons announced, lifts announced to stop
At Lac Blanc, the school is ESF Lac Blanc, separate from the La Bresse schools. Its snowboard page announces snowboard “dès 10 ans” (from age 10), with shared lessons of 4 people maximum and private lessons. The snowboard tile on the homepage nevertheless says “Dès 8 ans”: the page does not settle it, so ask the school. The page’s rates date the high season 7/02 to 8/03/26: they seem to predate the coming winter, and we do not reproduce them.
The point to check lies elsewhere. The site’s joint authority announced on 1 July 2026 that the ski lifts would stop from the next winter season; according to France 3, relayed by Remiremont Vallées on 8 July, this closure might not be irreversible; ICI reported on 10 September 2026 that there would be no alpine skiing opening next season at Lac Blanc. The banner of the winter page of lac-blanc.com shows only the Nordic area (13 slopes); its menu keeps alpine entries (hours, lift passes, alpine piste map, freestyle area) that we have not checked. The ESF Lac Blanc homepage still mentions “14 km de piste de ski alpin” (14 km of alpine ski slopes): as it stands, in our reading, a snowboard lesson on the slopes at Lac Blanc this winter is not confirmed. Call ESF Lac Blanc on 03 89 71 33 11, and read our guide to the Lac Blanc resort.
Snowpark to progress: check on site
Our guide to the La Bresse snowpark describes beginner zones and modules. The official pages opened on 26 October 2026 do not detail a snowpark: the “snowpark” search on the tourist office site returns 0 results, and only the 2025-2026 Labellemontagne piste map mentions a “BoarderCross”. Before heading up with a board to work on jumps or modules, ask at the ticket offices or your school what is open. The ESF Freeski course, reserved for children who hold the Étoile d’or, mentions the resort’s Boarder-cross, but it is described for skiing.
Equipment, lift pass and insurance
At ESF La Bresse, the FAQ on the children’s page says you need a Grand Domaine lift pass and must bring your own snowboard equipment, “après avoir bien vérifié qu’il soit adapté” (after checking it is suitable), with warm clothing; snowboard equipment is among the items not included. Labellemontagne states that the resort’s rental shops offer ski and snowboard equipment: see also our guide to ski rental in La Bresse. At Lac Blanc, equipment and lift passes are not included in the lesson price, the helmet is described as indispensable, and students are not insured by ESF Lac Blanc, which recommends the Ticket Neige.

From what age can you snowboard with ESF La Bresse?
The ESF La Bresse children's page announces snowboard lessons from age 8, all levels. The teen page (from age 13) and the adult page offer the same formats. Moonshot and ESF Lac Blanc each have their own pages and their own age: do not carry one school's age over to another.
Which snowboard lesson formats does ESF La Bresse offer?
Two group formats: the group lesson of 10 students maximum, in the afternoon from Monday to Friday, and the shared lesson of 6 students maximum, from Sunday to Friday. Private ski or snowboard lessons can also be booked, subject to availability, morning or afternoon.
Can you take a snowboard lesson at Lac Blanc this winter?
The ESF Lac Blanc snowboard page is online and announces snowboard from age 10. However, the site's joint authority announced that the ski lifts would stop from the next winter season, and the banner of the site's winter page currently shows only the Nordic area. Call ESF Lac Blanc on 03 89 71 33 11 before making the trip.
