Stage 14 of the 2026 Tour de France runs from Mulhouse to Le Markstein Fellering on Saturday 18 July. This mountain stage covers 155.3 km with 3,800 metres of climbing. The peloton crosses Le Markstein twice: once during the afternoon and again at the finish.
This page covers the race-specific timings and restrictions. For a visit on another day, use the Le Markstein and Grand Ballon guide instead.
Official Stage 14 times
The official stage page lists the caravan at Mulhouse from 10:55 am and the peloton’s neutralised start at 1:10 pm. Race timings then use three predicted average speeds.
There are two separate windows at Le Markstein:
- first crossing of the finish line: 2:42–2:52 pm;
- final finish: 5:24–5:52 pm.
These are official predictions rather than guaranteed minute-by-minute appointments. Actual race speed, safety measures and conditions may shift them.
A mountain route with two Markstein crossings
The route first climbs the Grand Ballon, then reaches Le Markstein for the first time. It continues through the Ventron and Bussang sector, taking in the Col du Page and Ballon d’Alsace, before returning via the Col du Haag to finish at Le Markstein.
The Tour’s time schedule lists each commune and climb. Our Route des Crêtes guide provides background on the area, but it does not replace the temporary race plan.
Road closures on 17 and 18 July
The measures published by Inforoute Alsace are mandatory:
- the summit of Le Markstein is closed to motor traffic and motor-vehicle parking, except authorised vehicles, emergency services, security forces and rights holders;
- access via Grand Ballon (RD431) and Kruth (RD27) closes from 7 pm on Friday 17 July until 10 pm on Saturday 18 July;
- the RD1066 and RN66 close on Saturday from 1 pm to 6:30 pm;
- the RN66 also closes on Friday from 1:30 pm to 5:30 pm;
- progressive closures begin on Wednesday 15 July.
Roads will reopen progressively after the race. A published end time does not mean that every road becomes immediately accessible. Check live conditions on Inforoute before any journey.
Travelling by car or bicycle: confirmed information
The Tour has an official car-access page linking to its current plans. Given the summit restrictions, this guide recommends no car park, viewing spot or route from La Bresse without verified local instructions. Do not rely on a previous edition’s plan.
For cyclists, the organiser announces free, supervised cycle parking by reservation. Check the booking form before setting out: the advertised service is neither a booking confirmation nor a guarantee that places remain.
Arriving by bicycle does not override neutralised roads, police instructions or prohibited zones. Check final access on the Tour and Inforoute channels on the day.
Checks before setting out
On Friday evening and again on Saturday, check:
- the latest Stage 14 time schedule;
- live closures and reopenings on Inforoute Alsace;
- your booking status if using the cycle park;
- local instructions displayed around the course.
If in doubt, postpone a tourist visit to Le Markstein planned for 18 July. Live instructions from the road authority and officials on site take priority over any guide published beforehand.
