Tendon and Thiéfosse are among the 14 communes of the La Bresse Hautes Vosges tourist office. Neither had a dedicated portrait on this site. Here is what their commune listings, the Tendon town hall website and the listings of their sites say, reread on 19 October 2026, with two restricted accesses to know about before setting out.
Tendon: waterfalls, rocks and a viewpoint
According to the commune listing, Tendon is the natural gateway to the Hautes Vosges, around twenty kilometres from Épinal, Remiremont and Gérardmer. The town hall website describes a village of five hundred inhabitants at 460 metres above sea level, whose summits reach 807 metres. From Épinal, access is via the D11 towards Gérardmer; from Gérardmer, via the D417 towards Remiremont, then the D11 on the right at the entrance to Le Tholy.
The town hall lists three natural sites:
- the Roches de la Moulure, on the north-east slope, via the chemin de la Moulure: large blocks of granite, cleaved and stacked;
- the Roches de la Brostille, on the Fossard massif, west of the chemin des Cascades: a viewpoint over the village;
- the waterfalls, in a shaded setting, with a waymarked circuit of two to three hours to the col de Bonne Fontaine via the Roches de la Brostille, on foot or by mountain bike.
The tourist office listing adds that the carrière de la Hutte (Hutte quarry), in Tendon, supplied according to the listing the granite paving stones of the Champs-Élysées. Our article on the Tendon waterfalls details the two falls.
Access to the small waterfall
The small waterfall (petite cascade) is 10 metres high, and a waymarked 1 km path links it to the large one. According to the listing, from Tuesday 4 August 2026 and until further notice, access to the car park of the small waterfall is prohibited for motor or electric vehicles. It invites visitors to park in the car park on the place de Tendon and to walk 1 km.
Thiéfosse: Voie Verte, covered market and gorges
The commune listing presents Thiéfosse as crossed by the Voie Verte (greenway), a route for walks on foot or by bike. The Cornimont town hall page describes the Remiremont-Cornimont route as a 30 km path following the Moselotte valley. It does not name Thiéfosse: the exact route through the commune remains to be confirmed on the Voie Verte map. Our guide to the Voie Verte des Hautes Vosges presents the whole route.
According to the commune listing, the Thiéfosse market was voted the most beautiful market in Lorraine in 2024 and ranked 10th among the most beautiful markets in France by TF1. The listing for the covered market at the Ferme aux Hirondelles gives a Saturday slot from 8.30 am to noon, with a refreshment bar and cultural events. Our comparison of the valley’s markets sets them side by side.
Gorges de Crosery: no access
The listing for the Gorges de Crosery, in Thiéfosse, states that access to the Moselotte in this sector and use of the footbridge have been strictly prohibited since 12 April 2025 and until further notice. The Cornimont town hall page on the Voie Verte still mentions the footbridge and the gorges circuit, without mentioning this ban: in our reading, it is better to follow the tourist office listing. More details in our article on the Gorges de Crosery.
