Days are getting shorter, but an hour is enough for a view over the valley or a loop around a pond. Five short outings, read on the La Bresse Hautes Vosges tourist office route listings on 6 October 2026, suit the All Saints’ holidays and November.

The Ventron viewpoint (about 10 minutes)

The viewpoint is reached on foot from the Ermitage Frère Joseph, by waymarked paths, and offers a view over the village and its surroundings. The route is described as easy, with little climbing, suitable for everyone. The start is the free car park of the Ermitage, and a picnic table waits at the viewpoint. The listing warns that the steps leading to the viewpoint can be slippery in wet weather.

The Chauproyes pond loop, in Ventron (1.2 km)

The circuit starts from the tourist office car park, in the centre of the village, and returns to the same point after 1.2 km and 40 m of positive elevation, on road and path. It is designed for pushchairs, with a recommendation for an all-terrain pushchair. The site has picnic tables, benches and public toilets; fishing is possible. A playground is 200 m behind the office to extend the outing. The leaflet is free at the Ventron tourist office.

Two Randoland treasure hunts

Randoland turns the walk into riddles for children. In Ventron, one sheet per level (ages 4 to 6, 7 to 9, over 10) is to be collected free at the office and leads through the village. In Saulxures-sur-Moselotte, the route starts from the Étang des Fées car park, in Salingueux, 3 km from the centre, for children aged 4 to 13. The listing states that it is accessible all year, depending on the weather, and free. The listing gives no duration for these two games.

The Moyemont orientation table, in Vagney (1 hour)

This small loop of about an hour gives a panorama over the Moselotte valley. It starts from the Croix des Hêtres crossroads, 6 km from Vagney towards Haut du Tôt, passes the Les Sabots Verts riding centre, then follows the blue cross waymarking to the orientation table. The return passes the Jardins de Bernadette, gardens of aromatic plants described in our article on the Bernadette gardens. The neighbouring hamlet is presented in Haut du Tôt.

Colours and light

According to the tourist office, autumn colours peak between late September and mid-October and decline until the end of October: the end of that period falls during the holidays. The office advises dressing in layers, packing a waterproof windbreaker and a head torch for the end of the day, as days get shorter. Sunrise and sunset times are in our article on winter time in La Bresse, and forest safety advice in hiking during the hunting season. For the same commune, see also Ventron in the All Saints’ holidays.
